Alejandro Rodríguez-Giovo has been connected to Ecolint for 44 years, first as a student (1963-1972) and later as a teacher since 1989. He was among the first students to take the IB Diploma in 1971 and has since taught English, English Literature, and Theory of Knowledge, serving as head of department for both subjects. Over the years, he has held various roles, including coordinating the Students’ League of Nations Steering Committee, contributing to Echo magazine, and serving as an Accreditation Evaluator for the Council of International Schools (CIS). He has also been president of the Staff Association and led negotiations for the current CCT.
In 2011, he was appointed Foundation Archivist, responsible for curating Ecolint’s historical documents, giving lectures and presentations, and assisting scholars, researchers and filmmakers working on Ecolint-related projects. He is currently working on Education for Peace: 100 Years of Ecolint, a visual history to be published in June 2025 for the school’s Centenary. In addition, he will edit The Origins of International Education and the Birth of Ecolint, a scholarly collection, and contribute to organising the exhibition Genève, berceau de l’éducation internationale, planned for November 2025.
Among the Centenary events, he particularly looks forward to include the Education Conferences; concerts by Ecolint performers and orchestras, such as the Victoria Hall Concert in December and the Ecolint Orchestra Performance/5th Annual Ecolint Concours de Musique Laureate Performances in March; and the première of a documentary film dedicated to Ecolint's history in June.
