Course Overview
This two-session in-person, one-session online workshop provides educators with practical strategies for teaching in times of conflict. The course will cover presenting unbiased information, supporting students' emotional well-being, answering challenging student questions, and reflecting on these practices. Through expert-led presentations and facilitated breakout sessions, participants will create practical reminders for classroom practice.
Facilitator
Dr. Conrad Hughes, Director General at Ecolint, is an experienced educator with a broad international background in teaching and academic leadership. Having worked as a lecturer and teacher in schools and universities across France, India, and the Netherlands, Conrad has developed expertise in promoting critical thinking and addressing complex educational issues. His research and publications, including work on prejudice, elitism, and 21st-century education, focus on advancing universal human values and inclusive learning environments. Awarded the Humanism Prize by the International Schools Association, Conrad is deeply committed to education that encourages reflection, empathy, and resilience, making him the ideal facilitator for this course on teaching in times of conflict.
Capucine de Fouchier PhD, is a clinical psychologist and trauma expert with over a decade of experience in the humanitarian sector, where she contributed to implementing mental health systems for conflict-affected populations in partnership with organisations such as Save the Children, Care International, the World Health Organization, and the International Committee of the Red Cross. Her extensive frontline experience in conflict zones, coupled with her current roles as a School Psychologist and the Foundation Designated Safeguarding Lead at Ecolint equips her with a deep and practical understanding of trauma, resilience, and child protection. Known for her dedication and commitment to secure educational environments, Capucine continues to champion approaches that integrate trauma-informed practices and her belief in the transformative role of education.
